Remember when Lloyd and Mario were huge R&B stars, loved by all, especially the hood? Well, August Alsina is definitely about to feel that void for the new generation of R&B. The 20-year old from New Orleans definitely isn’t your typical R&B singer. He super tatted up, sings about weed and alcohol; almost giving off rapper vibes until he opens his mouth. But he’s signed to Def Jam, and The Dream is working heavily on developing him, so the sky’s the limit for August. But he already seems to have that Lloyd/Mario/Trey Songz lane in his pocket.
His debut single, “I Luv This Shit” featuring Trinidad James is currently taking off on urban radio (one of the most added records on urban radio in the past 2 weeks) so expect to hear alot from this Def Jam singer in the near future.
