If you haven’t learned by now, we’re not your typical urban music blog. Why? Because we don’t just support urban music. One of our favorite bands of the last year has been Imagine Dragons. And when we first heard their song “Radioactive” back in 2012, we KNEW it was the one. It was a smash. We knew it was one of those Record Of The Year Grammy type songs. And we were right. The song has gotten bigger and bigger and bigger over the last 10 months, and it now sits at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, the song took 42 weeks to reach the top 10, the slowest chart climb in history. It’s also been #1 on the Billboard Rock Airplay Chart for 21 weeks. It’s sold over 4,000,000 digital copies, and it’s still growing.
With a song that’s a lot of rock, mixed with a little alternative, pop, and dubstep, it has gone on to be one of the biggest multi-radio platform smashes in years. With the recent decline in the bubbly pop & dance/house explosion, the dark, hard hitting dub-rock record was just what radio needed. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time. Ask Robin Thicke. That, accompanied with its use in ad campaigns for Assassins Creed III, The Host, and the new Beats by Dre commercial starring Lebron James, has set the song up nicely to do the exact same thing Fun. did at this years Grammy’s: win it all.
Recently, the Las Vegas band stopped by ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ to perform the song live. Watch the epic performance of the epic song below:
