The Great Gatsby: one of the best novels ever written. The story was written in 1925 by legendary author F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was a story about the Roaring Twenties, a period of amazing economy and prosperity, following World War I. The novel takes place in 1922 in Long Island, New York “in a time when gin was national drink and sex was the national obsession.” The story chronicles the life of a Yale graduate & WWI vet Nick Carraway, and his much richer neighbor Jay Gatsby. Huge parties, gangster friends, it’s a great time. The book, for long, has been considered a literary masterpiece, and this year, in May, the film adaptation hit theaters.
The Great Gatsby will be in theaters on May 10, 2013, and it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the rich Jay Gatsby and Spiderman’s Tobey Maguire as young WWI vet Nick Carraway. It’s slated to be one of the biggest movie events of 2013. And guess who has been chosen to score the classic film? None other than Hov, The God MC, also known as Jay-Z.
A huge feat for a man that used to be just another statistic, just a hood drug dealer providing for his mother the best way he knew how. The Carter’s just keep on winning, don’t they?
