SHOWTIME | ‘Awkward Black Girl’ (Season 1 & 2)

Sometimes, the best shows aren’t on TV. Producer/director/writer Issa Rae got her start on Youtube after graduating from Stanford University. Β She started the web series “Awkward Black Girl’ in early 2011. The shows centered around a main character, Jay (who’s played by Issa Rae), and her awkward life as a black girl. It’s hilarious, and filmed almost like a ‘Community’ type show. The show has grown so much that now each episode gets hundreds of thousands of views, and Issa is getting recognized by publications like Forbes Magazine, CNN, BET, and Essence Magazine. She’s even developing a show on ABC with ‘Scandal’ writer Shonda Rhimes, the show entitled ‘I Hate L.A. Dudes.’

Below, I’ve included both season 1 and the current season 2 of Awkward Black Girl. If you’ve been a loyal fan of the show, reminisce, or fast forward to Season 2, Episode 9, which premiered today. If you’ve never watched the webisodes, get familiar and get ready to laugh.
