Following up a huge smash like “2 On” was going to be a daunting task, whichever way Tinashe chose to lean, but “Pretend” was the perfect direction. It’s nothing like “2 On”. “2 On” was the ride to the club. “Pretend” is the ride home, when you’re starting to sober up, and realize the bad of your relationship. “Can we pretend? That’s it you I’m in love with.” A nice, very vulnerable mid-tempo record, produced by Detail (“Drunk In Love”), check out “Pretend.”
Perfect for the radio, as this song covers all 3 major radio formats. It also shows off a different side of Tinashe, one mainstream media isn’t aware of, without getting to dark & emo.
